Tax Payments accepted at Central Appraisal District at 1159 S Milam St

The Gillespie Central Appraisal District collects property taxes for eight taxing entities which include Gillespie County, City of Fredericksburg, Doss CCSD, Fredericksburg ISD, Harper ISD, Hill Country UWCD, Gillespie WCID, and Stonewall WCID.  

In-person payments can be made at the Gillespie Central Appraisal District office located at the corner of S Milam St and Friendship Ln between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Remember to include property ID number(s) on all payments. 

Taxes can be paid by mail with a check made payable to Gillespie Central Appraisal District and mailed to 1159 S Milam St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Receipts will be mailed if a self-addressed stamped envelope is included with the payment. 

The GCAD will not accept checks made out to anyone other than Gillespie Central Appraisal District or GCAD.  Checks will be returned that GCAD cannot endorse and this may cause penalties and interest charges if correct payment is not received by Jan. 31. 

Taxes may also be paid online or by telephone.  Online payments are possible through the appraisal district’s website,  Payment by credit card will incur a fee of 2.35% of the amount charged by the credit card company with the exception of Visa Debit Cards ($3.95 flat fee) and payment by E-Check ($1.50 flat fee). Payment by automated telephone services can be made by calling 1-877-690-3729 and using jurisdiction code #6692 when prompted.

Property taxes are considered due upon receipt of the tax statement. If taxes are not paid by Jan. 31, 2020 there will be penalties and interest added to the property taxes beginning Feb. 1, 2020. 

Taxpayers who need a payment installment agreement can make those arrangements with the appraisal district office as soon as the taxes are delinquent on Feb. 1, 2020. 

Taxpayers who qualify for and wish to participate in the quarterly payment option listed on their bill need to only pay the first installment by Jan. 31, 2020. 

By paying the first installment timely and writing “QTR1” on the payment, eligible taxpayers will automatically be signed up for quarterly payments for the current tax year.

The deadline to file a protest on real property is June 12, 2020.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all informal meetings with appraisal district staff will be conducted via telephone and email.  No face-to-face meetings will occur this year for informal meetings.  Please file a protest and appraisal district staff will contact you via telephone or email.  Business personal property notices will be mailed later in May.

Our lobby is open for dropping off documents or paying property taxes, but it is preferred that you drop documents or property tax payments in the dropbox outside our front door or mail them to our office.
