Gillespie County Commissioners signed a Resolution opposing the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the County. Also, included in the resolution was their support for the proposed legislation State Representative Ellen Troxclair introduced to mitigate the risks presented by the operation of the BESS projects. Troxclair and State Representative Wes Virdell introduced 2 House bills. One would give cities and counties regulation power over certain electric energy storage facilities and the other would require entities to obtain permits from the Public Utility Commission before installing a BESS.  Peregrine Energy Company is planning to build an energy storage system in Harper near the W US Highway 290 and S Ranch Road 783 intersection.
