Prescribed - Controlled Burn General Requirements:
CHECK that a Burn Ban is not currently active.
Create directions to the burn location and plan emergency access to the burn site.
BEFORE BURNING, notify the Fredericksburg Fire Department at 830-997-5603of your plans to burn.
Burn only outside the corporate limits of a city or town.
Burn only when the wind or other weather conditions are such that smoke will not present a hazard, nuisance to others or affect road / highway visibility.
Begin burning no earlier than 1 hour before sunrise and end burning same day and no later than 1 hour before sunset.
Weather conditions must be such that smoke will dissipate (winds of at least 6 mph - and no faster than 23 mph).
The burn site must be physically supervised at all timesduring active burning.
Burn supervisor must have immediate access to a telephone at all timesshould the burn get out of control and you require immediate Fire Department response.
