Gillespie County Sheriff's Office

SHERIFF MILTON JUNG

Sheriff Milton Jung has long been recognized for his contributions to the advancement of law enforcement and criminal justice in the Texas Hill Country.  Under his direction, the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office is keeping up with the latest technologies and methods of fighting crime. He is always at the forefront pushing for better training and equipment for our law enforcement community.  Good communication and cooperation with all area law enforcement agencies is his very first priority.

The key ingredient to a successful and effective organization is "Leadership".  This is especially true of those agencies charged with the responsibility of safeguarding the public and being part of the first line of defense from the lawless elements within our society that are motivated by greed and hate.

Sheriff Jung begin his law enforcement career in 1963 with the Fredericksburg City Marshall's Office and when it was re-organized as a City Police Department in 1967 he was appointed the first Police Chief.  Over the years he served twenty-two (22) years with the Texas National Guard and retired as a Captain.  He also served with the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-one (21) years and has served as the City and County Fire Marshall.

Sheriff Jung is serving his 5th term as Gillespie County Sheriff.  He has been a member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas for forty-one (41) years and is a past President.    He is currently a Representative to the Western States Sheriff's Association and also serving on the Board of Directors to the Texas Association of Counties.
